I woke up this morning with the fog behind me outside. As I was sitting and reading, little by little the sun was coming out and warming the room up. Something about the soft rays of light and knowing i was going to be in the sun all day made me think of a gypsy boho look. A few staples go into this look. The middle parted wavy hair, headband or floppy hat (or both), soft billowy top, and boots made for walking.

stripes and color

i love stripes with color. Red is of course my favorite, but blues and cool tones are pretty great also. I wish i had taken a picture of today in the salon. My friend and fellow stylist Nicole and I came into the salon with the same outfit on. Striped shirt, skinny jeans, and red flats. Must be that kind of day!

Ad Campaign hair that's easier than you think

Dior's Coiled Curls—Model Karlie Kloss's lush, volumized curls have us lusting for hair with mega bounce, but these curls need some prep work and tools to get it right. 

Create a center part, then apply a mousse or volumizing product as a foundation and blow dry. Use a 3/4” to 1 1/2” curling iron (hair sections shouldn’t be any wider than the size of your iron), and create an even curl pattern through the length of the hair: wrap the hair, starting a few inches away from the roots and down to the ends. Release the iron and re-wrap each section by hand and clip at the base with a pin-curl clip. Spray with hairspray, let the curls set for a minute or two, then un-clip and fluff. I find that I get more control and a sleeker finish with an iron, but for a fluffier finish, try hot rollers. They're easy to use and I love the idea of letting them set in your hair to cool while you're doing your makeup or nails.

Bally's Sleek Chic—There's nothing like an extreme side part to edge up a simple, sleek look. Start with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner then blow dry straight. Add a little volumizing powder or dry shampoo at the roots, then create your side part. For a super smooth finish, apply a small amount of shine pomade.

YSL's Retro Redux —Give your bob a kinky twist with some finger wave-inspired movement. Apply a gel to damp hair, create a side part, and add wave clips horizontally, just above the ears, into hair to create the kink effect. Let hair air dry naturally or blow dry on low, and then remove the clips. Apply a molding product to tame flyaways and help mold the wave. You can also use a flatiron to create the above-the-ear kink effect, too.

Roberto Cavalli's Artfully Tousled Waves—I'm loving Joan Small's perfectly messy "whip my hair" waves, and if you already have curly or wavy hair, a little beach spray and a diffuser will do the trick. Instead of a regular, round wave, the reverse wave is flat and goes in the opposite direction after every (or every other) "S" pattern, meaning the wave isn't symmetrical. Wrap the hair—starting at mid-length—around the curling iron's barrel once or twice. Then go the reverse direction and continue this pattern to the ends. The overall finish still has volume but is a bit more natural looking.

Hello Kitty Shoe Collection With Twenty 10 Footwear

 OMG a whole Hello Kitty shoe collection… *fainting* Together with Hello Kitty the shoe brand Twenty 10 Footwear is releasing a line of shoes to die for that includes ballerina flats, wedges, open-toe pumps, slingback pumps, platform pumps, low and high boots, sneakers and sandals.  They will be in stores in the US in October check out their facebook page for updates.

Lollapalooza, which celebrates its twentieth anniversary this weekend, has gone through many incarnations over the last two decades. Originally conceived byPerry Farrell as the farewell tour for his band Jane’s Addiction in 1991, it grew to define the grunge milieu of the mid-nineties–launching the careers of Nine Inch Nails, Hole, and Green Day, as well as more left-field acts like the gruesome Jim Rose Circus Sideshow. Then, after going on hiatus in 1997, it returned in 2003 as a platform for big-scale, early-aughties alternative outfits like the nu-metal supergroup Audioslave and the now re-formed Jane’s Addiction. After switching from a tour to a three-day event (held in Chicago’s Grant Park) in 2004, Lollapalooza finally found its feet and became what it is today: a glorious mix of big-name crowd-pullers—such as this year’s headliners Eminem, Coldplay, and Foo Fighters—as well as up-and-coming indie darlings like Arctic Monkeys and Crystal Castles.

how adorable is this playlist Vogue created as a teaser for Lalapalooza. I can't go to the actual show, but i lay on my deck with my head phones on a pretend. I have faux grass and the puppies can walk all over me as i pretend i'm in a mosh pit. do they even have those anymore?

Can you tell i am (still) in love with orange this season? I finally broke down and went back to Macy's to try and find the orange dress i wanted so badly. I didn't think i would care that much but it wouldn't leave my head. I went down to find that it had not only gone on sale, but everything i looked at a couple weeks ago had been cut by 75%, so not only did i get the fabulous dress i'll be wearing in about two weeks, but a few other fun finds. Including these wedges from Aldo that were a promo for NY fashion week.
