Picasso

Being able to see a collection of Picasso's work at the DeYoung museum was breathtaking. I made it half way through the exhibit when I realized they wrote quotes from the artist on every wall way up in the corners. I had to walk through the entire exhibit again just to read all the quotes. My favorite; " It took me 4 years to learn how to paint like DiVinci, and a lifetime to paint like a child." -picasso

FNO 2011!

Once a year September comes rolling around and that can only mean one thing. FALL FASHION! It also means the kick off to fashion week and Fashion Night Out across the globe. After normal hours, stores stay open and have parties, raffles, cocktails, cupcakes, and tons of meet and greets with designers, local bloggers, and other extremely fun people. This year, FNO is September 8 and parties will be from 5-9pm. The main area to be in is around Union Square in San Francisco, although many shops around the Bay Area are offering their own FNO get togethers. Some of the stores on my hit list include Macy's at Union Square: FNO manicures from 6:00-9:00 p.m.Westfield San Francisco Centre: Enjoy champagne, cocktails and special deals at the VIP Event Under the Dome 5:30 -7:30 p.m., Marc Jacobs: Shoppers at the 125 Maiden Lane or 2142 Fillmore Street locations can get a limited-edition Marc Jacobs Carnival tote bag while sipping on Sofia Mini champagne 6:00 - 10:00 p.m., 12 Gallagher Lane: Meet 12 local designers 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Babette: Babette Pinsky will be at the store; shoppers can enter to win a $300 gift certificate (361 Sutter St.), Betsey Johnson: Live models, champagne, cupcakes and a chance to win a free tote, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. (845 Market or 160 Geary St.) H&M: Raffle for $200 gift card and grand prize all-expense paid trip to NYC for you and a guest to celebrate Versace for H&M. New Obsession

OI/OIL: Absolute Beautifying Potion

I am in LOVE, my clients are obsessed, and it's nearly sold out after only two weeks! It features natural Roucou oil, which makes it a fantastic alternative to other (read: silicone-based, artificial, not-so-great-for-the-health-of-your-hair-or-the-planet) serums and oils that claim to do the same thing.
What it does:
finishes, tames, protects, smoothes, calms, softens, and hydrates hair.
the list goes on and on…
It can be used on dry or wet hair, curly or straight, and it smells amazing!!!
Why you’ll LOVE it:
Roucou oil is a naturally derived seed oil with antioxidant, healing, and, some say, spiritual properties!
The Roucou oil used by Davines is Fair-Trade, which means that its sale brings sustainable, socially responsible business practices to the local Brazilian economy where it’s harvested.
The packaging is made with low-impact, reuseable, food grade plastic.
The details:
Here’s where I geek out on you, because I am so fascinated by this product, not only because of what it does, but because of where it comes from.
Roucou Oil. You might think you’ve never heard of it, but chances are that you know it well by one of many other names. Bixa, Achiote, Annato, – sound familiar? That’s because this plant has been a staple for centuries. It’s used as a food colouring in many countries, as a spice in Central and South America, and was even used to make body paint by the Maya, Aztec and Oaxacan cultures.
Called Urucu in it’s native Brasil, this oil is extracted from the fruit of a small tree that grows deep in the Amazon rainforest. As with every product in the Essential Haircare line, Davines offsets the environmental impact of manufacturing OI/OIL by creating and protecting new rainforests throughout the world.
This is truly the most versatile haircare product I’ve ever used. It can be used as a shine serum on dry hair, a smoothing agent on wet hair, a protective coat before blowdrying, a silkening treatment on curly or wavy hair. It’s light enough to use on fine hair, but an extra dose is strong enough for coarse, frizzy hair.
It’s like the allspice of haircare – you can’t live without it! Thanks Davines!
